If you bump up to $450 can go with a Bushnell Match Pro.
Or wait for Cameralandny to have a sale on Athlon or call Doug and see a price for the one of these. I really would love one of these. But don't want to give up my Ares ETR for it.

+1 on the talos btr 4-14-44 I have two on my bullpups nice clear glass but my eyes are aging so I see going stronger in the future .Got mine off the classifieds .

For $300 bucks budget i would look at Swfa 10×, 12x or 16× rear focus. Very hard to top tracking and very decent glass. Tough as nails. The milquad reticle is real sweet.

I went Athlon, first one was a Talos. With your budget of 3-400 you could jump up to an Argos, all the bells and whistles. I've 4 of them. Athlon has a broad choice of reticles available, customer service i hands down the best I've ever experienced, life time warranty. Shop around, check the classified ads on the forum.

I just bought: Aim Sports JA6HD452750MR ALPHA 6 4.5-27X50 30MM RIFLESCOPE WITH MR1 MRAD RETICLE
It cost $200 (memorial day sale), and so far it's been excellent.
Pros: Very clear, all the way past 24x. Nice reticle, with illumination. Focuses down to about 15m, and measures accurately (so fat only tested it from 20 yards to bout 55).
Cons: it's not small.
It's my favorite scope out of 6 that I have (Bushnell Elite Tactical, Burris Mtac, Barra 4-20, Konus ...)
