FINALLY received the element helix scope, couldn’t believe it since it has been so long!
sat down and looked through 3 scopes I have on hand: cortex diamond back tac 4-16, AIM alpha-6 4.5-27 and then Helix.
- optically the AIM Alpha 6 has slight advantage with slightly bigger eye box, slightly brighter and better color and obviously higher magnification. Difference no where near the difference when going from the vortex DB to Alpha 6 or helix.
- turret wise the element helix is better hands down! Haven’t tested tracking yet though but the clicks are positive, love the revolution marker but no locking. However turrets have very firm clicks so locking turrets might not needed. Took off the cap and the locking rings are definitely stainless steel, looks Almost exactly like the one on Nexus, there is slight play but doesn’t move the reticle.
- feature wise the Helix wins handily. Everything is either in yards or meter, everything makes sense. Only thing lacking is illuminated reticle but it’s not FFP so it’s very easy to see and don’t really need it.
had the AIM alpha 6 had better turrets I wouldn’t of ordered the Helix at all. BUT the scope of sum of all things on the scope and I think the Helix definitely delivers in value and performance especially when it comes to the turrets. I have yet to test out the turrets but from the feel of things and zeroing in my impact it is very promising.
PLUS I sure don’t mind supporting Ted and Matt whom I’ve learned a lot from. I really got into air gun and enjoyed it tremendously thanks to them, especially Matt.
