Amazing how may different safety features a gun can come with from the factory. Here is my favorite safety that I use on all my guns. I just keep it off the trigger till I am ready to fire. It is simple, straight forward and works like a charm.

Yep, that's the one I use as well. One of my handguns doesn't have an external manual safety, the other does but I never use it. If you need your gun in a hurry, you are going to forget to turn that safety off and it could cost you your life. Both of my handguns have an internal firing pin safety as most modern semi-autos do. The gun cannot fire unless the trigger is pulled all the way back to release that safety. Always keep our fingers out of the trigger guard until you are ready to fire.

that's number one on all guns hand and long guns. But that 1911 has a lot more safeties that some people don't know about
