FX Royale 400 hammer spring adjustment

What is the "default" number of turns in on the hammer spring for a .22 Royale that's regulated?

Unlike others who battle to remove some sort of ring that was loctite'd in, my hammer spring adjuster arrived so loose that it wiggling around and there wasn't anything fastened in front of it...

As I screw it in I really don't feel any tension until it hits the "wall" when it's screwed ALL the way in. Any advice would be appreciated!

Dont worry. It's that smoth, you can't feel the resistance of the spring at all. Just adjust it till you find your perfect speed. Don't max out the hst b.t.w, if you do it, it will mess up your ES and your average velocities will come down. I have it 3 full turnes from max, more than that (at least in my case) and i'll start to loose fps. Cheers.

Ohh, and one more thing. Once you reach the desired velocity, apply a tinie bit of medium or low strenght loctite to secure the hst adjuster or it will become loose and you will loose fps with shot to shot due of the vibrations mooving the adjuster.

Thanks for your input guys. While it was too dark to chrony it, I did have a few minutes to shoot a couple of magazines. It felt "right"... Here's a 10-shot 55 yard group. I know it will only get better from here

I'm sure you can get better results, try jsb's 18.1gr shooting at about 880-890fps. If you don't have a chrono at least just try the 18.1's and i'm sure your results will improove And try to find a chrono b.t.w, it's a very necessary tool and once you have it i recomend you to shoot a couple of pellets at that speed.

OK, this is what I got at 3-full turns out on the hammer spring:

JSB 15.9
Ave 949 fps
High / low = 965 / 942
31.9 fpe

JSB 18.1
Ave 899 fps
High / low = 903 / 894
32.6 fpe

JSB 18.1 *medium power setting*
Ave 665 fps
17.8 fpe

And this is pretty much where I was hoping it would be.

In my case, the 18.1's shoot horribly at med power, i'm sure a lighter pellet will do the trick, either the 15.9 or the 14.3 jsb's; do your own research at the diferent settings

Yup, my experience is the same. Fortunately I do have a few tins of each of the lighter JSBs

Yes, VERY good advice about the loctite... my HS screw on a 400 was loose like yours by the sound of it, and it took me too long to realise that every time I travelled with it in a car or even fired it the screw was moving and causing all kinds of inconsistencies with the POI of course. - extremely frustrating.

I would be really interested to hear what kind of shot count you are getting on full power at the 3 turns out setting.
