Does $12 sound a lot to ship one brocock magazine???

The minimum rate for international shipping of items 4 ounces and under is 13$, so if it is international shipping 12$ is very reasonable . If you're talking domestic, I think the minimum rate for things under 4 ounces is 2.66$. So if you're in the United States 12$ is a massive rip-off even if they add extra services like insurance.

To be fair though, a lot of shopping cost is based on weight. I've seen some complaining about ammo shipping costs on here on occasion, and in some cases that is less warranted because ammo is heavy so shipping costs should be high.

If you add up what's involved I don't think that's bad.The flat rate boxes are close to $7 now. So for $5 does the magazine jump into the box? Does your address make itself appear on the box? How does the box get into the hands of the carrier? It used to be explained as "Shipping and Handling".

Can I get a show of hands as to who on the board works for free?

12$ shipping seems fair if you are even pondering paying 82$ for a SINGLE magazine. The whole transaction is robbery...I did my research prior to purchasing my first rifle and noticed a trend with higher end guns, the magazine prices are reflected upon the guns prices, yet their form and function remains the same as the lower and middle end rifles, where their magazine prices also reflect their rifles prices...see the trend? I know I did...its a natural human condition to feel you're getting 'better' when you pay more..after all higher cost HAS to mean better quality? Rather silly..its a capitalistic way to take advantage of consumers, IMHO. /end rant

having been BOTH a consumer wanting the most for the least $ ... also worked all my adult life and realize employees if jobbed to be shipping personnel required getting paid too.

This money comes from EITHER profits made elsewhere or in part by those packages being handled and sent out.

As they say often, there no free lunch ... Well almost .. LOL

Just perspective and not taking sides.

3D printing and distributed manufacture is going to break this exploitation. Speaking of which, if people need mags designed and printed, this is something I can do.

Well I just ordered from SPAW and it was $3 So I guess we know how AOA is making extra money. Its sad because now i wont ever order there again in fear of being ripped off.

@Bigtinboat

How is SPAW able to ship the same magazine at one-quarter the price as AoA?

When I do a search of the address for SPAW google maps shows a house, that's probably part of the equation. I'd guess that AOA has quite a few more employees and overhead. For a one owner business, if the owner decides to not "pay" himself and charge only the actual amount of postage and material costs then that's on him. A corporate business is just a tad different.

I agree Bob, it shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to throw a magazine in a free padded envelope and label it. Whether you agree or not, these are the types of small things that are going to cause some businesses to succeed while others struggle in this competitive market. I've always had great experiences with AOA, but also with UA, Air gun Depot and many others too. Small things like this obviously matter as you can see from this thread!

Guys I understand that a business needs to make money for sure. But... when i can get the same product and it is shipped for 1/4 of the price i dont think that is a mistake or because of a bigger business. it is taking advantage of the consumer. And they were both from USPS so there is no other excuse other than profit. Which again is fine. But i wont ever buy again.
