DIY Gun Stock Question

A while back I had found a series of videos from a guy that clamped a wood blank and used a hand router and router guides to make the entire gun stock. I didn't bookmark it and cannot find it not matter how much I search. Seems like I accidentally found it once before on a Swedish or Danish air gun forum.

Anyway, if anyone knows of that video series or can point me in the right direction to get started on making my own custom wood stock, especially using a hand router, I would appreciate it.

Yes, Thurmond that is the guy. Thank you so much. I was about to pull my hair out searching.

But if there is more step-by-step info out there for building wood stocks from a wood blank, please post them here for me. I'm thinking about tackling this project for fun. I know a few AGN guys have done it and I would greatly appreciate help.

Daxx. It is doable with simple tools. To me the biggest task was the bedding, but it did came out by using a drill first, and mark the depth before drilling the wholes as a guideline for the carving. When the bedding is done, the rest gives itself. But you have to dedicate yourself to the task. For me - it became a summer project.

That is impressive very good job. Good luck Daxx if I had the confidence to do it I would I mean I work with my hands for a living but wood is not my strong suit.

They have some really nice router guides available, but if you measure ten times and use some scrap steel and a cheap test piece of wood, your finished product should be great. Gunner awesome stock......

Here's a great video from a guy who made a stock from a cherry log for his Weihrauch. I really like this guy's videos since I'm an amateur machinist too.

As the barrel channel on a PCP rifle is usually an air cylinder channel, it's not tapered in that section of the inletting. I was going to try drilling through horizontally using a spade bit of the same diameter as the air tube and then sawing off the top. With a drill press and an extension to make the spade bit long enough, it could be a quick method of bedding for wood stocks..

I spent 4 months building a thumbhole benchrest stock for a 6mm PPC. My son was showing one of his friends and he dropped it. It broke right at the wrist. That was my last attempt at building my own stock. Lord help me, I had to leave the house for a few hours, to calm down .

I believe I like the fish scale much better than the checkering.. I may have to practice that for awhile..
