Discovery 5-30x56 question

My son is getting me a new scope for Father's Day he order the Discovery 5-30x56 which I'll be putting on my impact.

I see on the zoom knob a screw head does anyone know if that's a spot you can put a threaded shaft in order to make zooming easier.

I have that scope. Zoom ring is a little stiff to turn but not too bad for me . I'd at least try something like this before trying to replace that screw with something that might damage the scope.

There's also this option: - I used to use them on my camera lenses, 
and they're fully adjustable, so, can also be used on scopes as well..

I have used those gadgets from amazon in the past and I may use it in this case I know some other scopes have that screw in levers as part of the scope I just wasn’t sure as currently the post office hasn’t delivered it to me. I saw that screw on the scope on Charles web site that’s were the picture came from. I’m not crazy about the cable tie look of some of the scope ring aids.

I have the discovery 3-18x and it has a similar looking zoom knob. I measured it and found one on amazon and bought another from china cheaper. This works great and has not slipped and helps alot as the zoom is stiff.

Let us know how you like that scope and if it gets softer on the long end of zoom.

If you remove that screw, you should be able to turn the magnification adjustment very easily, and it will probably "slip" across the actual adjustment ring that is beneath of of it. The mounting screw that comes with the throw-lever not only acts as a mount for the lever but keeps the mag ring firmly in contact with the mechanics under it.
