Just came today. Shot it a few times then managed to lose the site post insert from the front Globe sight. %^/ I should probably put a scope on it but I wanted to try the Williams and straight front post. Should keep me interested up unto the moment I throw my hands in the air and put on the scope.
Shooting without the post I was getting pretty good consistency. It will take me some time to figure her out. The cocking effort is said to be 55 lbs. I didn't find it that hard. Not necessary to use two hands but this does make it easier. The Beach wood is not bad at all. Some figure. Not over stained. Checkering is nice. Weight is a LOT less than the AA TX 200.
I'm smelling some burnt oil but don't think its actually dieseling. AoA says its shooting around 840 fps with 16 grain pellets. I'll dig out my chrono once its broken in. I like the feel of the gun. Hand holding should be no problem. It's long at 48 inches but has a very elegant look with all that barrel. 19 inches and you need it for cocking. The cocking mech appears very robust and solid.
Sound level is about the same as the TX although a bit different in type. Not back yard friendly. About half the noise level of a 22 long rifle firearm.
The blueing is very nice. Deep, polished. Overall fit and finish is excellent.
The trigger guard is plastic but you can't tell unless you do the 'teeth' test. The trigger itself comes from the factory adjusted just right for me. No real 1st stage.
(Edit: It does have a first stage. Didn't really seem lit it when brand new but now has a definite two stage trigger )
The tiniest bit ( now significant, not tiny ) of take up with a crisp break around 1 1/2 lbs. I like it. The blade is far from flat but has a large radius which is very comfortable and efficient.
I'm mostly a pest shooter and the gun has plenty of power for that. Puts pellets through 3/4 soft wood no problem. Further penetration tests will follow.
