Cleaning the bore on a PCP

i am new to PCP rifles. My life is centerfire Benchrest. We clean every 7 shots. 



What at is considered a good cleaning regimen with today’s pellets and what is the frequency?

I clean when new and then only when acxuraxy drops off......last time I believe it was about 500 pellets.

My 6.5 Creedmoor, I clean maybe every 100 rounds. I shot nearly a 1" group (3 shots) at 300 yds yesterday on a fouled barrel and factory ammo.

That kit Steve recommends is freakin' awesome. Use it on my powder burners (DTA in 338 and 6.5CM) and my air rifles. Compact, works well, CHEAP.

As mentioned for general shooting clean only when accuracy drops off(test time!). In benchrest most clean between cards. In Field Target before every match.

Disco felts only in your chosen calibre or say goodbye to O rings if you rod or pull through.I found out the hard way with a FX Verminator

Turn your gun upside-down to keep fluids out of the transfer port. I use pull-thru patches with a little Goo-gone on them. Works fine. About every 300-500 shots.

I remove the internal "O" ring from the barrel on my Daystate "R" when cleaning. It takes a few extra minutes but it is worth the effort.

What cleaning fluids and methods does one use? I heard that a bore mop with Simple Green is the best “solvent”.

I use Kroil on the first patch. You can leave the oring in the barrel as it will take a patch far to large to pull it through. Stay away from solvents when running patches and you won't have to worry about your transfer port r oring degredation.

+1 I remove the barrel o ring also so I can use a much tighter fitting patch for a better clean.

I totally agree. The main dude does a good job of keeping them on topic though.

I found it to be the same advise as everyone else.

Clean the barrel when accuracy drops off.
