Carbon Fiber Scope

Does anyone successfully make carbon fiber scope?

Sorry I don't know, but had to comment this.

there is a "Design your perfect scope thread" going at the moment, and the first thing I thought of was "made of carbon fibre"

It takes a lot of carbon and epoxy to make "carbon stuff" gas tight. the scope would end up heavier. And then machining it is another difficult process. The machining is Not friendly to humans or machines.

30+ years in the areospace composite field. It could be made air tight but it would be more fragil than a alu scope unless you used something like a BMI resin system instead of epoxy. Expoxy isn't very impact resistant where the BMI is but BMI is very very expensive as in that's what they build the F-22 out of expensive.
