Beeman R7 .177 on the way

So after someone's post last week about wanting an R7, I finally broke down and bought one after months of debating. Fingers crossed that the FedEx estimate of Thursday holds true. 

Could you guys recommend an ammo that the rifle seems favor?

My HW30 likes most everything. The JSB Exact 7.33 might have a slight edge but most cheap wadcutters shoot great as well. It’s is one of my favorite air rifles and probably gets shot the most as it’s perfect for my little backyard.

Pellet selection depends on what purpose and how accurate you need to be. Target shooting my R7 likes RWS Diabolo Basic. “AOA”. In the wind/pest control then Crosman Premier Hollow Points. “Walmart” Both cheap and accurate. Been using these two for a over a decade

RWS R-10 Match Heavy 8.2gr, Air Arms Falcon 7.33gr and of all things the Rifle Ammunition 8.33gr (found them on Ebay) were #2, #3 and #4 of the ones I tested in mine. 

There was one that beats the R-10's but they aren't made anymore so no sense saying try them. I do have others to try if the weather/wind let's me.

Another vote for JSB Exact 7.3, or the very similar JSB-made Air Arms Falcon. Took my old 1990's R7 to another level of smoothness, speed, and accuracy.

Mine likes JSB 7.87’s. Great gun. Relaxing to shoot. Very accurate.

Ordered a R7 yesterday as well. Really looking forward to getting it in. Most days here in North Central Oklahoma the wind blows pretty good but I can shoot from inside my barn out through the back door out to 15-20yds and stay out of the majority of the wind and thinking this distance will be perfect for the little R7.

Yes it will, that is the distance this rifle shines.

Anyone tune their R7/HW30 or just shoot it as it is. I plan on at least opening mine up and removing the factory grease, doing a little work on the piston and trigger but was wondering if these would benefit from a full tune kit or not.

If you ever shoot one that's been 'tuned', you'll have your answer. If not you'll be nearly as happy. R7 is bliss either way, but it's Bliss with a capital B if tuned!

Have to agree, both my R7 and HW30 have a pg4 kit in them and they shoot very nice. Before the tune both had spring twang I can't stand. Not sure accuracy changed much but to me it was worth every penny.

Much more enjoyable rifle with a tune kit installed. Easy to install and worth every penny.

Just ordered a Maccari tune kit for HW30/R7 should get here next week about the same time as the R7. Got lots of pellets to try once I get everything done on it.
