So it’s been a while, and over this time I think I have learned a few things about the Crown.
First and foremost, I need to thank Yrrah and Wetherby for the pointers and advice, as well as the Crown owners that have provided feedback on issues and general observations.
This gun has had the following done since the group posted above:
Mags have been tuned, specifically the exit hole and the teeth have been profiled and polished with 800 sand paper and emery cloth.
Reg is now set to 117 as per EDMU gauge.
Hammer spring has been set to max and the set screw was adjusted to achieve a speed of about 890 FPS. I am at 1400 m ASL, the speed was chosen for best accuracy and I have a hunch that pressure and altitude will affect what the optimum speed should be so please don’t use my speed, you are probably lower in altitude so your speed will be slightly lower too, think 860 - 880 for 25 grainers.
I have changed the Belleville washer order for low pressure set up, and am still looking for the optimum order for zero creep as I do still get some after a night of standing, currently at ()()()()()()((((.
The barrel liner was marked and rotated through 360 to find the optimum orientation for vertical pellet flight, I settled on the up bias instead of the down.
The shroud was moved forward about an inch from default.
Enough talking, if you want the rest of the gory details I would be happy to PM you...
16 shot groups 96 in total:
8 shot groups 96 shot string
I think that the flyers are a factor of my poor shooting now, maybe a little pellet inconsistencies as I don’t sort.
I have been shooting it like this for about two weeks, the pattern is always the same, majority of the shots now touch each other with the cursory 2 or 3 fliers per group when doing 8 shot groups, 16 shot groups hide the flyers...
