Looking at Diana 34 schematics, the gun does not require a tophat in its original form. Can you try the spring without the tophat and use washers to get to the desired FPE? On another note, does anyone know the stock specifications for the Diana 34 mainspring (not the detuned 12 fpe spring)?

Thanks, Butch and Emrider. I think that I will buy a 12 fpe spring and compare it to the 15 fpe spring currently in my rifle. If the 12 fpe smooths out the shot cycle and gives less recoil with good accuracy, that might be the ticket I am looking for.
