    Daisy 717/747's

I bought a new 717 about 2 years after they came out and the velocity out of the box was about 354 fps. I checked the adjustment of the pump lever to the receiver and the distance was just 1". Adjusting it to just under 1 1/2" and the velocity increased to 382 fps. This was with H & N High...

Does anyone have any experience on the Alpha Pellet Head Gauge?

UPDATE: I need to clarify on the above results. When I said, some of the pellets were in the 4.49 to 4.50 range the pellet would be just below the 4.50 mark maybe by a head diameter below. If you could put a number on it would be like 4.497 as the smallest size. The same thing in the 4.51...

Does anyone have any experience on the Alpha Pellet Head Gauge?

More test results. This is a small pack of RWS Basic, WC pellets that was labeled 4.50 head diameter using the Pelletgage. The photo shows the results with the Alpha. Each pellet was checked at least 3 times each and some as much as 5 times to see which head diameter it was. I know you...

Does anyone have any experience on the Alpha Pellet Head Gauge?

The Alpha Pellet Head Gauge came in today. I've only played around with it for a couple of hours. Right off the bat I saw it's not like in the video. It's based off the base of the pellet sitting flat on the surface. It's very easy to get the pellet tilted and hence, different readings on...

Curiosity got the best of me and I ordered one of these from ebay UK. Says delivery should be the last week of Aug. or the first week of Sept. I guess I'll see what happens.

    Guns of our youth.

I remember being ask "What would you like for Santa to bring you?" when I was in the 3rd grade in '55. My answer and my younger brother's was a Red Ryder BB gun. In the '50's, the Western movies was all the rage for kids even for some girls. The days and weeks went by so slow for Christmas...

    Cleaned out pellet trap

I cast my own pistol bullets back in the early 70's for just over 10 years. No health issues that I saw. People did say in case of a nuclear blast they would hide behind me for protection. I still have my own hair.....well, mostly. And, I still have all my own teeth. 😁

Reason for shooting less than a 5 or 10 shot group when checking for accuracy

These days, I see guys, when testing their gun for accuracy or when comparing a pellet with an another pellet, shoot anywhere from one 3 shot group for testing, to one 6, 7 or 8 shot group, instead of the more traditional 5 or 10 shots groups. What is the reasoning for using less than 5 or 10...

    Daisy 747 Accuracy

This gun is 26 years old. It has been fired thousands of times over the years and the seals and some parts have been replaced. Back then I found the most accurate pellet to be the Beeman H&N High Speeds, which weighted 7.2 grains. These are no longer being made. I tried the RWS R10 WC...

Accuracy test of a CP-1M pistol

I saw a lot of favorable reviews for the Air Max CP-1M CO2 pistol in .177 cal, a couple of years ago. However, when the accuracy was brought up, all I saw was that it was "accurate, very accurate or extremely accurate" but no targets backing up these claims. Decided to take the plunge and...

Question for all the Beeman P17 buffs

Shot, indoors, off sandbags, with a 2x scope just for accuracy testing. This P17 (#1) shot well. Another P17 (#2) I tested, averaged around 1/8" larger groups overall. #2 shot best with Air Venturi 8.2 gr. dome and RWS R10 WC 7.0 gr. Another P17 (#3) regardless of pellet used, shoots...
