I purchased a 22 cal version and mounted a dot on it as well. I could not get the gun to group at all so I'm exchanging it with hopes for better results with gun #2.

I think this gun solves a problem that didn't exist.

Hatsan Edge or Striker, either with the Vortex gas ram, in 22. If you shop hard you can find them as cheap as $60 at times. You can find them anywhere for $100 or so.

Perhaps a larger set screw is needed or a duplicate to handle the force demands of the action.

Blackdiesel has that Caldwell Field Pod, the biggest one that adjusts to standing level, and it's a dream to shoot off of. I'm putting the seated model on my Christmas list.

It's been my experience that cheap Crosmans have junk triggers. You can buy a nicer trigger to upgrade but I'm not interested in being a gunsmith at any level. I think a refurb is going to be your best option for getting the best gun you can at the best price. There's plenty of brands I've not...

The mention of Air Force does bring up another question. Is single shot ok or is a repeater a must?

I think you misinterpreted what he's saying. He will get a gun that's higher than 12 FPE and to do that where he lives requires a permit, which most don't have, so he'll have a very difficult time moving this gun used if he doesn't like it. He wants to make sure his choice will not disappoint...

he's got 5000 reasons not to share imho. :)
