The gentleman that spearheaded this project went to great pains to have a certain point on the benches exactly 50 yards and every bench is perfectly lined up with its target. And each bench has a nimber and a corresponding number placard at the target to eliminate crossfiring.

The club member that is spearheading the project had them custom made, using I think, ARA recommended or endorsed or whatever, commercially made tops that were then placed on the concrete blocks with mortar and within reason, perfectly level.

Yep, teflon tape should NEVER be over the end of the fitting. Tape should start one thread back from the starting thread. I have installed thousands of tapered fittings in submarine panels, warship panels and oil field panels starting one thread back.

I sight my rifles in for pesting and record dope every 5 yards from 10 to 50 yards. I used to use 18” long 1/4” diameter fiberglas rods and a laser rangefinder to locate the increments. I have a 150’ tape but I’m not keen on laying it on wet grass and it getting moldy or faded from storing it...
