Yes. That's what I gathered as well. .mine's a wrench tight version. I cant see anywhere to put an o-ring. I made a brass round washer to make up the difference and it seems to be working. That is. The adapter makes up all the way up into the seat of the valve now. But I haven't tried it.yet..
