When the Covid Isolation Boredom Hits

I'm on day four of isolating in the basement because I caught Covid (again). I've tweaked the tune on my R-10, resealed my Wildcat, filled my airtank, cleaned powder burners, and watched enough TV to numb my brain into utter boredom. Well boredom lead to silliness in the form of flour...

Replacing that Annoying Maverick Cocking Lever Pin

It did not take very long after getting my Maverick for pin part number 44 to start working loose. I did not like the remedies that I found online so I decided to replace the pin. I found a stainless steel truss head rivet on Amazon of the correct diameter (2.5mm). The $6.39 price includes...

Hey Vendors - The Little Things Get Noticed

I just received an order from High Pressure Pneumatics and feel compelled to give them a shout out. They did everything right. Not only did they have a good price on the Wika gauge I ordered but they shipped it in a timely manner, did not over charge for shipping, and packaged it very well...

Idea for the FX Maverick / Wildcat power wheel

Something that I would like to see for the Maverick and Wildcat (with power wheel) platforms is a micro adjustment for each individual power wheel setting. I am working on a tune for slugs at higher power wheel settings that also uses lower settings for different weight pellets -(Yup, just like...

Ergo zero angle grip for Maverick

I was not comfortable with the stock grip on my Maverick so I decided to try an Ergo zero angle grip. The Ergo has much better ergonomics for me. The new grip is wider and has a palm swell that fills my hand. My wrist is no longer at an uncomfortable angle while shooting from the bench and it...

    Pidgeon Popping Power

Hey there purveyors of pigeon pesting persuasion. I am wondering what pellet and fps tunes you are using for pigeons inside of structures (barns in particular). This is for .22 caliber.

Took an airgun to a rimfire shoot

I took my BSA R10 MK2 to my club's monthly shoot. This month was rimfire at 50yds. Our monthly shoots are pretty informal and are more about just getting together. I was expecting a little ribbing as I put the R10 in the rack but one of the regulars saw it and pronounced "Now I'm worried. ...

    Yong Heng oil level widow

I started to change the oil in my Yong Heng today. I am switching from Royal Purple to Husky full synthetic oil. After draining the RP oil and flushing out the old residual oil with the new Husky oil - (Husky full synthetic is clear) - I noticed that the oil level sight window has a dirty oil...

    Pellet pen and slugs

Got around to trying out one of my Christmas stocking stuffers. Just in case it might be helpful to someone - slugs do work in a pellet pen. At least the NSA 17.5's do. Made loading the swing out single shot tray on my R10 WAY easier. Too bad the magazine does not work with slugs.

    The Tale of the Wererabbit

I had heard the stories but had always thought that they were urban legend. That was until now. They are usually very docile. I knew something was amiss when I found they had escaped their pen. They didn't go far. I found them hiding in fear under the vanity. All accounted for except...

    Feedback JCD Great Guy

JCD helped me out with a project by sending me parts at his own expense. Very generous person.

Yong Heng is apart any questions?

Yup, the day has finally come. My Yong Heng needs a new high pressure piston top. The screw on piece that holds the top two piston rings gave in. Knew it was going to happen eventually - lasted for 11hrs of run time. The failed part: I just grabbed it with a pair of pliers to unscrew it...

    Scope turret / parallax pointer

I'm looking for a scope turret/parallax pointer. I do not need an adjustable one. Something slim. 3D printed is ok to keep the $ down. Is there a U.S. retailer that has one - maybe similar to this: Or this:

    Putting on the pounds

No, I'm not talking about the Covid-19 belly I've been working on. Lol. I'm talking about my shooting bench. A friend of mine gave me a glass top table that his work was getting rid of and I put it on top of my bench. This slab of glass is over 1/2 inch thick and weighs upwards of 75 lbs. ...

    AMP regulator in Wildcat mk1?

As the title asks: Will an AMP regulator swap into a first gen Wildcat? Will the breather hole for the reg be in the right place to drill out for reg adjustment access?

A Yong Heng adventure in cooling

Not long after getting my Yong Heng I found posts from people who used radiators and computer fans to help cool their compressors. Neat idea but seems to me to be quite a bit of $$ to put together. I like to tinker (on the cheap) so I thought I'd try a poor man's version. The "before" set up...

    New rubber mulch trap

Finding myself with extra time on my hands I set out to "build a better mouse trap". I wanted the new trap to include 4 things: 1- metal spinners. 2- capture the lead from the spinners and any rubber that falls from the trap. 3- easy to change cardboard. 4- some protection of the cardboard...

Wildcat monopod - My WC ditches the bag

No more rear shooting bag for my Wildcat. I'm sure someone has done this before me. I drilled the stock of my Wildcat to fit a length of all thread and installed a threaded insert. I found a round plastic knob at the hardware store and - Wildcat monopod The shape of the Wildcat stock was...

Can you "wear out" a rubber mulch trap?

From what I found today - yes AND no. So I went out to my trap to change out the cardboard target face. I found some of the mulch and pellets on the ground in front of the trap. Ok, it's been too long since I swapped the cardboard out. I open the faceplate, remove the old cardboard and...

    Discovery education please

I am researching my next scope and have been looking at the Discovery line up. I am wondering what (if any) differences there are between the VT-T series and the HD series. I am open to other recommendations. Here are some of the features that I want: approx $300 price point, first focal...
