    Youngbuck, The pellet actually didn't exit at all. It dumped 100% of the energy fully into body of the squirrel and was recovered during the processing of the animal. Obviously this doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's ideal!

    Yes, part of me was thinking it might be overkill for squirrels, and certainly it can be done with much less (no one will argue that). I chose more power and the larger caliber because sometimes I see coyotes in the area I hunt. It gives me a better opportunity for a humane kill on one. But...

    I really like the R5. Something about single shots for me. One shot one kill. I take my time and wait for the one perfect opportunity then let her rip, because it’s all I’ve generally got. Once they bust me, they just disappear into the forest. They are masters of the hide!
