    Mythbusting Precision BR

I don't know anything about the saber tactical rest. I didn't even know there was such a thing. The bald eagles that I used had the windage cable thing removed replaced with a knob, and used a speed screw on the rear foot for fine adjustment. Mike

    Mythbusting Precision BR

I agree with almost everything you have said...with a few exceptions. Benchrest is absolutely about the machine. It's similar to heads up drag racing in a lot of ways. The human element involved in keeping a drag car at its peak is unbelievable at the high levels of racing. Could I shoot...

Troy...I assumed you would see the smiley after my statement and see I was kidding. Just about any scope around 30 power or over is good enough for 50y BR as long as it's in good working order. I have a couple s2s....and although I prefer to look through my better scopes...the s2 doesn't cost...

    Mythbusting Precision BR

Troy...that's not fair that you use such an expensive scope. That's got to be a tremendous advantage over some poor guy that only has a 350$ s2 Sightron. 😀 People who would cry unfair about your rest spend more money on bipods and those stupid monopod rear things. Mike

    Mythbusting Precision BR

Your outside perspective logic is extremely common. It's just flawed. That's actually why I made this thread. The game is about using the most accurate rifle to shoot in the wind and put the shot in the middle....and see who can do it the most. None of the contentious items make the...

So did 1st place and first overall. So far it's never been won off a 1 piece....or sled.

    Mythbusting Precision BR

If your gun won't shoot well without a tuner, it's not going to shoot well with one. Tuners don't fix things. Tuners are famous for producing fantastic small number groups sporadically....only to make very large high number groups.

    Mythbusting Precision BR

You are exactly correct....but there really isn't a whole lot that can be done that will matter in the long run...unless the goal of an organization is only to foster high numbers of shooters rather than high quality shooters. The root problem is not with the career shooter. Mike

    Mythbusting Precision BR

I get your point...but getting a bullet to land within a 1/2mil at 50y is about 7/8". That's basically making it into the target box. It will need to be about 7x better than that at least. Mike

    Mythbusting Precision BR

Matt..if the makers of that take it to a br match and win with it....they will be thought of as talentless douchebags... despite requiring a million times more talent and skill to develop the device than any other shooter. Haha

    Mythbusting Precision BR

Travel costs for me will be about that much. I'm not going to simply trust you to keep your word. That would be stupid.

Joe, he's certainly a troll.....but if he's willing to put 2500$ in an escrow account for my travel expenses if I win ....I'm willing to travel. I can visit my daughter.

Only if the gun sitting on it was good enough. 😀

Tony has agreed to my terms. For starters I would like to see his range and setup where we will be competing...and the physical address so I can start figuring out travel. Mike

Give me your address and I'll start looking into it. There was a really no need to pm me since it was a public challenge. Mike

    Mythbusting Precision BR

Hey Tony...I'll come out to your place for a 50y BR match. I'll shoot off a bipod and bag. You can shoot off your "sled" if you want. Matter of fact I would prefer you shot off your "sled" as that will illustrate the point of this thread the best. If I lose I'll write up a big thread here...

    Mythbusting Precision BR

Precision BR is not just about the rifie. It's about refining the entire system which includes the bullet, rest, bags, etc. Every person that has never competed in precision BR will grossly overestimate their ability to be competitive in the game. The number of times a shooter will hold...

    Mythbusting Precision BR

What the common shooter doesn't realize is that every bit of shooting accuracy knowledge came from a precision bench shooter somewhere.
