Taipan Decisions, decisions....

I've been away from shooting for over a year and coming back; and so what's the logical thing to do in this situation? Buy a new air rife, that's what! Right now I own two .25 FX Impacts and a .25 Kalibrgun Cricket. Thinking I'll sell one of the Impacts

The Taipan II Tactical has caught my eye, along with the Kalibrgun Tactical. In the past, the Cricket was that gun, that I went to to just shoot. You could pull that thing out of the closet after it sitting and it would still be zero'd on the first shot so that's why I'm looking more to the Czech guns. They're simple, well designed, incredibly accurate and just plain work! Very little tuning involved. I have two notebooks on Impact tuning compared to less than half a notebook for the Cricket.

This isn't an Impact slamming post; I really do like them, it's just that the Impact is so adjustable it can get overwhelming at times. My MKII, (finally),shoots slugs like a laser. Fantastic guns.

Does anyone have an opinion on either of the above mentioned guns? I'm watching videos and looking for reviews. I did notice on the Kalibrgun Tactical, the cocking lever looked a somewhat stiff, whereas with the Taipan, it appears to be butter smooth. Otherwise?

Having owned FX, Kalibr, and owning Taipan, AGT, Airmaks I can tell you the although the other CZ airguns are made very well, the taipan II (not tactical) is next level when it comes to build quality. They also have the benifit of not needing barrel stiffners or a large supply of o-rings. I still haven't been able to take mine out but shot strings and smoothness of the trigger and cocking lever are beyond anything I've experienced yet. With a minimal disassembly to switch the cocking lever over revealed the best under stock finish of aluminum parts on an airgun I've seen.
Hoping it shoots as well.

Since you already own a FX Impact that "shoots slugs like a laser" , why get a Taipan?
I dont think the Taipan will offer anything new, other than perhaps setting it up for lower power, and shooting pellets, but you also mentioned that you already have several other bullpups.
If it were me, I would skip the new airgun purchase, buy some ammo, and simply enjoy the FX, which you already own!

I've got the Vet 2 Tac .25 in standard length. Bought it from Talon Tunes. I've killed a bunch of squirrels with it from 10 to 40yds using Hades. It loves JSB 25g Diablos as well. Messed around with KO's and some AVS slugs but did not have the accuracy of the pellets for me and the "out of the box" tune Tony put on it before shipping which is nothing exotic. It is smooooooooth cocking and of course has the famously friendly Veteran trigger. I like the forward cocking lever better than the rear style on my Vet 1; my shoulders and neck are not in the best condition anymore and the forward lever is easier for me to manipulate prone. On a bench it's not as big of a deal for me.

I've not experienced accuracy issues with pellets mentioned in an earlier post, maybe that's the 700mm? Mine just plain works and the green laminant stocks are beautiful!

The group at the top is Hades at 35yd. The lower group is Knock Outs slugs. I was not impressed {with the slug performance} and didn't pursue any setup changes to attempt improvement since it does so well with pellets at the distances I shoot.

I don't know how you could go wrong with one, honestly.

I did use to own a kalibrgun cricket 2 45 and I loved it aside from the annoying magazine loading design although better than the original cricket. And the ping, the ping got to me. I've heard it's not bad on the 60 due to the longer barrel but I could not tell you. Mine did shoot pellets amazingly as well as .216 nielsen slugs

holy smokes! my Gen 1 Vet is hole in hole at 35 yards, I would expect nothing less from a Taipan at that range.

I wasn't impressed with the slug performance is what I meant. At least not enough to change anything when it does so well with pellets. My pellet groups are limited by me, not the rifle. I drink a LOT of ☕ 🙃
