Oh Crap...No more MP-5

I have used MP-5 the entire time that I have had airguns. More than 50 years I believe. No more. It's gone. 1st it was sold by Beeman as Compound No. 5 Metalophilic Oil then by Air Venturi. Checked with Ted at Air Venturi. No longer available anymore. Crap! I really liked that stuff too. Guess I'll try Ballistol. RIP MP-5.

You might also consider "Frog Lube". Better corrosion protection than Ballistol, probably cleans about the same. I rejected it for my powder-burners (because it wasn't a great cleaner, and it's incompatible with petroleum-based solvents that I find necessary to get those clean) but it recently struck me that it might be great for airguns.

Frog lube is unbelievable as a rust preventer.
This is a picture of 46 products tested. I would only put 3 of these on anything I want to protect. Each has their own pro's and con's.
Frog lube has a pleasant minty smell and is completely non toxic.

That test prompted me to try the Hornady One Shot and the WD40 Specialist Rust Inhibitor. Both are excellent products that work. I use the WD40 Inhibitor on all blued steel gun surfaces. The One Shot is a little difficult to use on large surfaces as it is an aerosol product with a fast evaporating base but it is excellent for places like trigger groups. It flushes out old gunk and leaves a film lube and corrosion inhibitor behind. Works great on my pocket knife collection too.
