How many fps to penetrate a boars skull?

Shot placement is critical no matter what you're shooting with. Even with powder burners of large caliber, shot placement is still important. I once shot an elk in the head with a 30.06 and missed it's brain by an inch. It ran off and was still alive 20 minutes later when I found it leaning...

How many fps to penetrate a boars skull?

To be an effective bow hunter requires the same skill set that hunting with PCPs does. Even with broadheads, only a perfect shot on the heart / lungs will guarantee a quick kill and recovery. Anything else and off it goes, and you may or may not find it. Considering there are a lot more bow...

How many fps to penetrate a boars skull?

There used to be video of that hunt but I guess YT blocked it? Anyway that hog went DRT instantly!

How many fps to penetrate a boars skull?

    That's a 175 pounder and a tuned .177 Hatsan Flashpup from a previous thread here: https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/tiny-bullet-huge-hog/

How many fps to penetrate a boars skull?

IMO it's mostly shot placement. I've killed 1200 lb. steers with a .22LR pistol one shot between the eyes = DRT. A little high and it will likely bounce off. I once saw a sheep shot at point blank range with a 9mm 115gr FMJ and it ricocheted and went through the roof of the trailer the sheep was...

Feral cat vs wildlife vs my family

I killed one a few weeks back that was obviously badly wounded and barely making it's way. It had been mauled by another cat/s and had it's "junk" ripped off. About half of those I'm forced to cull are in terrible shape. Emaciated, mangy and flea ridden. I wish I could trap and drop them off at...

Washington Post says hunting wild venison most eco friendly food on planet!!!

The Washington Compost is probably changing their narrative due to the severe deer overpopulation especially in the east where there is a disappearing natural predator population combined with dwindling hunters to manage them. Deer do quite well on the fringes of civilization just like coyotes...

    Too close for a scope!

Nice Hardware! Yep I don't think I'd like to be that close to the varmint when it was shot period. It could get messy.

    Too close for a scope!

The UTG Bugblaster 3x9 AO can focus clearly down to 3 yards and you can easily shoot it at 2 feet. Just have to remember to compensate for serious hold over. They're cheap.

    Too close for a scope!

They'd have to do it like immediately or drown. So if they did there is your opportunity whack em. I know you can't drown them with a hose because they have chambers that are above most of the tunnel. But pressurized mud like bentonite clay would fill those as well until it started to seep up...

    Too close for a scope!

I wonder if pumping their holes full of mud would do the trick? Drown them and fill the burrow in one fell swoop if it worked.

    Too close for a scope!

+2 on trapping efficiency whether for pest control or meat harvesting in a survival situation. My only subterranean nemesis in these parts are gophers. It would be a full time job sitting around waiting for good shots, although I do enjoy getting the occasional unexpected opportunity. After...
