An FYI on the Discovery 2-12x 24mm

http://www.discovery-sports.com/product/Riflescopes/HD/2023/1226/218.html This is a 'heads up' post on the owner experience using this scope. I wouldn't have posted this on just my singular experience but I have now seen two examples that have the same flaw. First, I want to say that I love the...

Other Truth behind Macavity Arms Prototype Airgun

I really like the design of the factory moderator coming back over the shroud, this makes it way stronger if it gets knocked against a tree branch or something. If I had a 3d printer I would just make a core. Macavity is doing a core for the production model and if it is a legitimate attempt I...

Other Truth behind Macavity Arms Prototype Airgun

I regret posting my group photos because I actually wasn't on a good rest, or trying like it mattered, and even if I had been, I don't shoot groups that well anyway. A really good bench shooter could do much better. The magazines do need work, that's probably why they are coming out with metal...

Go back and look at my mag pic and you will see the post beneath the spring. That is in the channel and what holds the round in place to feed, the wheel has to spin around. Take your mag apart and you will see what I am talking about. You could plug the first hole you load, to stop firing on an...

You really can't because of how they're made, doing so would block further rotation. I was thinking of blocking the last position, but thought better of it because I didn't expect it would hold up.

The magazine wheel is on the thin side, it would be hard to work on. Just paint/mark the bad cylinders so that you don't load them, still have all the other shots left. I plan on getting the metal ones when they start selling them.

I dropped the speed down to 880fps and shot these groups @53y with a Discovery 2-12x compact scope. Those shots that look like fliers are actually my last shots each time. Whenever I have nice groups going, I do that. I wasn't using a rear rest either. I am overall happy with this, I was just...

First groups from 53 yards shooting JSB 18.13gr @892fps using a Bushnell Red dot. The dot covered most of these targets, and my eyes are going down hill, so I thought that this was actually very good. The black is three inches across. The actual group size was way smaller than the dot, and I...

    N/A First air rifle choice

If it's mostly for woodchucks I would say any of your choices are good, but lean towards a .25 caliber and use a 34gr pellet.

I wrote above in post #28 about trying to turn down the spring tension a small amount and they just didn't design in extra hole positions for adjusting spring tension. These guns are the prototypes so maybe it will have adjustment features later on. If not, once CARM starts making mags for this...

Thankyou! Now I am learning something that I never would have guessed. My assembly feels like one part to me. I don't know what's holding it together but it seems solid. Now I completely get what you are saying. Maybe, some prototypes are solid, others are not. The picture on their website shows...

Other Truth behind Macavity Arms Prototype Airgun

The gun and your barrel is designed so that you can not screw the barrel in tight. It has ports and a set screw dimple on both sides because you have to screw it in to the point that it will acceptably retain your magazine and either back off, or turn in more to get to the dimple for the set...

It is not the same in the rigidity department has the Taipan or the Evol. It relies a lot on it's very thick shroud and the extremely thick barrel band to complete the ensemble. The Taipan needs nothing else, and the Evol is so good that Dana Webb threw it off a cliff, put a significant dent in...

Other Truth behind Macavity Arms Prototype Airgun

A couple more points I have found along the way. On spring loaded magazines, like the Marauder, there is three holes for you to choose the right tension, or to re-tension, your magazine; this magazine only has one hole in the body. I was hoping to back off the tension a small amount, but no...

Tried the 110 and the 160 recently for the first time, on a .22 BRK, and they are impressive. The 110 does an amazing job for its size and barely gives up anything to the bigger 160. In my opinion the size difference beats out the small difference in noise reduction, which for the 160 is just...
