    Co2 Cartridge Quality?

The Umarex seem to be of higher quality than the Crosman brand. There is a small but noticeable difference in the size of 12 gm. cylinders. The Crosman cylinder is slightly longer than the Umarex brand. Generally it doesn't make any difference, but I have to make an adjustment (adding 2...

Umarex airgun cleaning kit -- strange parts

I just bought an Umarex airgun cleaning kit for my airguns. IMHO it's an odd collection of gadgets. There is a plastic handle that accepts the flexible cleaning rod and the included screwdriver bits, but the other end has a female brass threaded insert that fits nothing in the kit. Also...

    New gas ram rifle

Thanks for the kind posts! Now if the wind would just stop blowing so hard I could get in some shooting.

    New gas ram rifle

I promised myself that six months after triple bypass surgery, when I was officially 100% healed, I would buy a break barrel rifle. (My other air rifles are CO2.) I chose a Benjamin Trail NP2 because the cocking effort is relatively low and it is highly rated. Since the scope that came with...

I must be doing something wrong

Thanks for the information. I have an Umarex Fusion that uses the dual cylinder setup and I have never had a problem with it. In fact I really like the Fusion mechanism but that's another story. According to the video I'm doing everything right. It's a real mystery!

I must be doing something wrong

A few months ago I purchased a 12 gm. cylinder adapter for my Hammerli 850. I put in two cartridges, screwed on the brass cap fully (which I assumed punctured the cartridge tips), screwed the adapter into the air chamber port, pulled the trigger, and -- nothing happened. With the help of a...

Surprising power of my Hammerli 850 AirMagnum .22 rifle

Thanks very much for this information! I'm certainly learning a lot about my Hammerli and airgun shooting in general. BTW I have a 3-9x40 AO mildot scope on my rifle already. I use it not only for distance but also for wind. After the first group I hold accordingly. It's one of the things...

Surprising power of my Hammerli 850 AirMagnum .22 rifle

Thanks for the detailed information. It really helps me and, I'm sure, other serious airgunners. I will probably leave my 850 stock for now, but may have it tuned at a later date. As an interesting side note, I live at 7000 ft. and often hunt at a higher altitude, so air density at altitude...

Surprising power of my Hammerli 850 AirMagnum .22 rifle

This is certainly excellent, detailed information. Thanks for posting it. I am confused about one point. It's my understanding that as temperature rises so does gas pressure, giving rise to the warning not to leave an air rifle in a car in summer, etc. Would the stock 850 really experience...

Surprising power of my Hammerli 850 AirMagnum .22 rifle

Since I live in a rural area the phone book is quite thin. 8^)

Surprising power of my Hammerli 850 AirMagnum .22 rifle

I have had a small Crosman silhouette target for a number of years and have shot a variety of .177 and .22 pellets at it from a number of rifles and pistols. Previously, when I hit the ram/boar/turkey it wobbled around and returned to vertical. Yesterday I set the target at 30 yards and fired...

Can't cock my springer any more

Thanks for the information. Do you know where I can buy this tune kit?

Can't cock my springer any more

I own a Beeman HW 97 K rifle that requires 36 lbs. of cocking effort. I had bypass surgery about four months ago and now find it difficult to cock the rifle. I thought of getting a length of PVC pipe to "extend" the lever, making cocking easier. Has anybody done this or something similar? Is...

    Cleaning air guns?

I never clean any of my guns except the blackpowder rifles. I have a .22 rimfire, a 12 ga. shotgun, and a 7 mm Remington magnum, in addition to my two air rifles and four air pistols. I don't believe that the minor leading that may occur from pellets affects my accuracy any (since I'm not...

    Scope replacement

I'm replacing the 4 x 32 scope on my rifle with the same power, the difference being and adjustable objective lens (AO). My present scope's parallax is adjusted at 35 yards, which to me is way too far for an air rifle. I often shoot at 10 yards, sometimes 20, and there is definite crosshair...
