With the correct ammo it definitely is. I only shoot solid wide nose meplats that I design and cast. I expect penetration and get it!

I do hunt with both. The shorter barrel does have less velocity than the long barrels but I’m only shooting 90 yards and less with my carbine. Anything further, I use my long barrel.
