It may be protected but according to that treaty so is the American Crow, Cowbird, starling, and common house sparrow. Among others. In this case they were a nuisance bird. And for that matter, plenty of videos out there from Ted blasting starlings and sparrows. 

The gun is stock except for the Weihrauch moderator and the 1/2x20 UNF end cap adaptor. The adaptor is $50 from Talon Tunes and the moderator is $115 from Penchetta. Mouse fart quiet.

The barrel on the compact/shorty is 11 inches, so just shy of 300mm.

So far my gun is shooting JSB 18.1g at ~804 fps for 25 ft lbs at the muzzle. Accuracy is 0.25 inches at 40 yards - zeroed my gun at 30 yards and it was hole in hole. I don't have a shot count as I usually will shoot two magazines then top up with a hand pump. More than plenty for hunting...

Mine loves a lot of different pellets but recently just switched to H&N Terminator HP pellets. They're 16 grains and are shooting 1/2 inch groups at 35 yards. This is a hunting pellet and does a number on vermin. 

I've used monopods, bipods, and shooting sticks for about 99% of my shooting. Really makes shooting long distance a pleasure. Essentially allows for humane shots on otherwise sketchy shots offhand. Never leave home without them. Great investment.

I'm suspecting that it may be causing clipping. Did it come with the gun or was it added on later? I have multiple moderators including Huggets and Weihrauch. If the accuracy is poor with it on but is great with it off, there is clipping.

It will be interesting to compare your NC LDC to my Weihrauch LDC that I got from Penchetta a while ago. We should test out the decibels with the same application from the same position relative to the gun and see what we get. I can likely make a small video with it once I get my gun back from...
