Impact probe screw failure & solution

OK, seeing the actual set screw, and the probe pocket it fits into, I can see exactly what happened. I would think that replacing the set screw with a hollow-lock set screw and steel pin would eliminate any re-occurrence possibility. Or, a slotted set screw vs socket head, if one could be found...

Impact probe screw failure & solution

Michael, I do not have an Impact; have not seen one in person, but have dealt with a TON of fasteners. To me, this looks like a failure of the set screw, where is sheared at the bottom of the socket. This would more than likely be from a poor or just plain bad temper on the fastener. I have...

    Anschutz Black Air Hunter

Yes, you are missing something. The gun is beautiful, and beautifully done. You are however, not one of the makers target market individuals. If I had the cash on hand, I would snag one in a heartbeat. If you have never shot a gun like this, you have no idea what you are missing ;-) What you...

    FX Cyclone versus FX Streamline

There is virtually no comparison between the two, aside from a very basic design similarity. The Cyclone action is based on the very first platform FX came out with, and is kin the the Tarantula, and Tarantula style actions (FX2000, SuperSwift,Cutlass Cyclone TimberWolf, etc...). The new...

Karma in the American air gun market!

I don't think the intention of the original post was for anyone to focus on the actual crime(s) committed by those arrested and charged. Those incidents really have zero to do with the airgun community at large. I think it has a good deal to do with character, and the possible associations of...

New .25 FX Wildcat, hole in air tube-WTF!?

has to be a reg vent hole. There is maybe 3 possible o-rings/seals that would allow air to vent from that hole, and it is a simple fix. Two external on the reg, and one internal to the reg - Would only take one to have a tiny nick to allow the leak. Contact AoA, and I am sure they will square...

    Dang, his head popped!

..."Haha similar thing happened when I hit my first chipmunk with a .22 long rifle. " Heck, I have been using a 74ft/lb .30 to dispatch a large quantity of the little guys. That is an entirely different experience - fast, and messy. Seems to liquefy much of the tissue on impact. Hit plenty I...

    Dang, his head popped!

I set up a lower powered .25 (shooting JSB kings at 600fps) to use for removal of some of the chipmunk population around the property. I hit this one today at right around 25 yards, and could literally see his head explode (through the scope) when the pellet made impact. The pellet struck him...

    Question for bobcat owners

I would also venture to guess that much of the accuracy has to do with a consistent head position behind the scope - which really has little to do with the gun at all ;-) Even a little bit of paralax error can create quite a bit of error on target.

Finally got my table put together

CK. you will be running out of excuses for posting some pretty awesome groups ;-) Looks good, and glad that the available hands were there when needed. Be terrible to be stuck looking at laying on the ground!

To FX airguns (or anyone aware about it ^^) about the Wildcat

Actually Ted, Neil is talking about the MKI (a Cyclone based action), which has the small disc adjuster under the breech. The side knob rotates the disc to one of three different size holes. Slick little adjuster for it's time! But, you are also correct! The new MKII's also have the power wheel...

    Good spring for Chipmunk's

For the last few years Chipmunk populations around here have been very low. I know people kid me about being the cause, but I know it is more environmental - lack of food at times (due to weather), a robust Hawk population, and some other factors. Anyway, I watched the populations around here...

    Wicked Lights

not a 'wicked light' either, but I have one that has similar specs as the one Bob posted above. Cree Led that runs on a 18650 battery - I don;t recall the lumens off the top of my head, but 100 yards on something like a raccoon, possum, or larger would be no problem at all. Mine came with both...

Input wanted - RAW HM1000X .30 shortened into a Carbine

Hunter, I think that if you do have it done, it will wind up being an action that just misses the mark for "doing" it for you. I mean, the .30 even at 60 ft/lbs is a fun gun to shoot. At 60ft/lbs the gun is quite quiet, gets gobs and gobs of shots on a fill - but has a very loopy trajectory that...
