I bought a used TX this week and it had a Vortex kit in it. The first that I had seen in person. It has the external guide also but inside of that there is the standard inside guide. Works like a champ.

I have both and recommend the HW97k. I have a regular 97k and love the wood stock. I also bought an STL. I love the nickel finish but not so thrilled with the polymer stock. I would really like a KT with wooden stock but don't wanna fork out the dough. Krale****** is the way to go.

These boingers are a challenge. They all have their peculiarities in how they are held. They can even react differently to what clothes you are wearing. With that I am referring to the cushioning at the shoulder. 

Thanks for mentioning your using a plastic coat hanger. I will keep that in mind. I had no metal to metal contact after all my grinding so did not do the plastic insert mod. I agree, even though this is their least expensive rifle they could do better on their QC. They DO shoot so damn good.

The primary problem is due to the location of the silver pin in the lever guide. Their quality control in positioning the U shaped guide when they welded it to the compression tube caused the pin to be too close to the tube thus not allowing the cocking lever to "clear" the compression tube.

I had the exact same problem when my 30 was new. It came with the common gauling problem from the cocking lever. I discovered that both pieces of the cocking lever were binding against the bottom of the action and the barrel would not lockup properly. The pic below shows where i had to remove...

I don't understand! As a US citizen you do not need a hunting license to buy or own firearms. Is this a requirement for those who are not? As far as the 20J rule, I think hawkeye is right.

EVERY barrel can be different and no 1 pellet fits any particular brand of gun. JSB, H&N, RWS Superdomes, etc etc etc are all great pellets and your gun may like. It also pays to pick up some Crosman 14.3gr Premier Hollow Points from Walmart for less than $6.00/500 and Crosman Ultra Magnums...

Domed pellets are all that I use with the exception of the Crosman 14.3gr hollow point which is domed also but has the indentation formed into the tip.
