Energy needed for a reliable kill on small-med. game?

I was thinking along the same lines didn't want to setup the chronograph wanted a method to ensure good speed I would set up a Sears Christmas 500 page catalog with a good metal back stop, just in case, at about 12 to 15 feet indoors and shot it I noticed every gun that was over 600 fps would go...

Yeah never underestimate a good flat or match pellet back when I first got my 1322 I only had crosman super pellets (not to be confused with super match) that's all I used because that's what was available. Can spring piston air rifles simulate the recoil of a firearm?

Outdoorman when i say "when you pull the trigger it jumps in your hands forwards then backwards to your shoulder when the piston ends it’s movement". the "then" means at the same time not a separate event without forward motion there can be NO Recoil OK we are saying the same thing i dint get...

Can spring piston air rifles simulate the recoil of a firearm?

No I have it right initial recoil from the release of the spring is forward. From off the sear it drives forward. look at 1:31sec on this video and you'll see it drives forward if it did what you say it would be going down then up but not so.

I must be doing something wrong

While I don't have a Hammerli 850 my QB 78 does the same dual co2 arrangement which always works flawlessly for me with the only problem being the oring in the end cap getting cut . I did find this German video showing the adapter being set up for use. It's in German so i hope it helps

Can spring piston air rifles simulate the recoil of a firearm?

No Spring power rifles have what's called a double reverse recoil which means when you pull the trigger it jumps in your hands forwads then backwards to your shoulder when the piston ends it's movement. Gas rams are similar but the nitrogen acts as a cushion and makes it less but still there...
