I did a similar thing last week - a 50 Gr .25 Altaros through a starling at 20 yards. Nothing left of the back half as shot it head on.

I have several of each, and fortunately or unfortunately, I love them all. But if I could only have one, it would be in .22. With ammo and technological advances, the .22 will do everything I need it to do in either a killing or target situation. More ammo choices, flatter trajectory, etc.

The Altaros slugs are solid. I shoot them in my .25 King and the accuracy is incredible. I shot two squirrels within 30 seconds of each other the other day at approximately 85 yards. The slugs passed through leaving a perfect quarter inch hole on the other side - so certainly no expansion but...
