It was really silly to not allow the second shot on a target to be on day two.... Shooting one shot per target is way more difficult than two shots per target. The competitor has to have better endurance because they have to address 25 lanes instead of 13-15 lanes. That's why older...

The main problem I see with a "by the class" GP is what Scott also is seeing. There isn't enough competitors in each class at even the largest GPs let alone one with the minimum number of 15 attending. That's why I propose a compromise of combining ALL PCP classes at a GP and ALL Piston...

Bill, like Scott said above that's not the topic of this thread. Start another one for that topic... I'd love to talk about it. But, I want to hear what YOU think about the new GP scoring system?

Garrett, You don't see flaws in the new system? The new system totally discriminates against a course like the Nevada st GP, that has extreme environmental factors that count the same as very lame courses that would also be allowed to check the same boxes? ? How is THAT not a flaw? The LACK...

OK, but that really doesn't compute when one looks at how Hunter class, Open class and WFTF class alternate in capturing the high overall score at the GPs of the last years since the 16x scope allowance was introduced. The classes have been equalized in their chance to get that overall high PCP...

Again, the simple answer looks to me to be that we count two high scores at each Grand Prix. High combined PCP score for all PCP competitors = 100%, and High combined Piston score for all Piston competitors = 100%.

Possibly, the AAFTA BOG needs more members. There is certainly a lot... maybe too much work to do for 6 volunteers. More BOG members.. maybe 12 would increase the chance of Hunter class shooters running and getting elected. I would also bet that your instinct that a lot of WFTF shooters will...

Again "exploit" is not the right term. THERE ARE NO RULES FOR WHEN TO CHECK OR NOT CHECK WIND OR ELEVATION There needs to be some kind of a sliding scale if the new system is used for next year. Actually a 3/4" kill zone at 20-30 yards has to be at least hedged, if not held on the edge of with...

This years Grand Prix scores are really not fair to the competitors. This years scores depended on whether or not the match director knew or didn't know about how important it was to set a course that was set for the most possible points a shooter could get. That was not the intention of the...

And why is it that this process for a rule change is not followed EVERYTIME ???? Can we make it into a LAW and not a choice for the BOG??? Look at all the issues that might have been avoided if the BOG had put out the rule change about scoring the Grand Prix to all the clubs for review and...

That doesn't really work either when there is only two or three in a class, but you could do it with all Piston classes and all PCP classes being combined to those sub groups when not enough competitors.

So why not change to the "highest score in each class equals 100%" and the other scores in that class are a percentage of that high class score? The new system is working worst than the one you are trying to fix imho...

I really don't think the "exploit" word is the correct term here. It suggests that the environmental factors were not registered correctly. The factors are only "On or Off". There are no rules of when to turn them on or off... So, it's totally fair for a match director to check the wind...

    AAFTA GP course optimization

This is exactly what I was saying in this thread way back in the beginning.... There needs to be a scale for each of the environmental factors... mild wind (3-5mph), medium wind 6-9mph, strong wind 10 plus mph.. (in Nevada you need very strong wind 20mph plus some years) Same with elevation up...

How about Sioux Falls South Dakota .. This site has facilities and looks good on Google maps. If we get serious, it's a spot to research. I think we need to think about the risk of severe weather and stay further north. South Dakota might have the safest weather in October...
